DABANGG2 DUMDAAR, HAYATE SHAANDAR

Branding plays a very important role in the sale of any product now-a-days. In a country like India, it is done by the movie stars. Keeping this in mind Suzuki is promoting their 110cc commuter bike Hayate with the Bollywood star Salman Khan who is the brand ambassador for the product. Suzuki wants to utilize Salman's mass appeal to work in their favour and thus they organise different contests time-to-time. They organised ‘Ek tha Tiger, Ek hai Hayate’ promotion campaign on Salman's last movie Ek Tha Tiger. And now when Salman's upcoming movie Dabangg 2's release is near, they again announced such a promotion campaign called “Dabangg2 Dumdaar, Hayate Shaandar”, and fortunately Suzuki Hayate buyers in the month of December could get a chance to meet Salman Khan. The "Dabangg2 Dumdaar, Hayate Shaandar" promotion will pick fifteen ‘lucky’ winners who will each walk away with a Suzuki Hayate. Of these, five ‘super lucky’ winners picked by a computerized random draw will also get a chance to meet Salman.

Commenting on the campaign, Anu Anamika, National Marketing Head says, “The Hayate was the first Suzuki product endorsed by Salman Khan. His association with the brand has produced phenomenal results. Salman’s first commercial for the Hayate was inspired by the role of Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg and went on to drive high brand recall.” “We have been able to establish a core identity for the Suzuki Hayate in the mass market as a tough, dependable and robust motorcycle. The Dabangg2 Dumdaar, Hayate Shaandar campaign will be a great send-off to 2012 and an exciting start to the New Year celebrations,” she added.

An advertising campaign in the form of print and television has been launched to promote “Dabangg2 Dumdaar, Hayate Shaandar”. Also Salman Khan is a motoride cop in the movie, who rides Suzuki Hayate, he also ride Suzuki's superbike Intruder in a song of the movie. The movie is hitting the screens on 21st December, and like all the recent Salman Khan movies, it is also expected to be a blockbuster.

100CC BIKE FROM BAJAJ ON JANUARY OF 2013

Bajaj Auto is planning to launch a highly advanced 100cc motorcycle in Indian domestic market in January, 2013. According to Bajaj, it will be the most advanced 100cc motorcycle. Making our dream of a cheaper price and high mileage to fail, Bajaj Auto announced that its brand new 100cc motorcycle would be the priciest higher.

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

In 2012, Bajaj has launched Bajaj Pulsar 200NS and Discover 125 ST and after they want to grab the market share in 100cc motorcycles as well. Bajaj Discover 100 4G is doing well in that segment and now they are trying to create a good successor in that segment.

Bajaj Auto’s Managing Director, Rajiv Bajaj has revealed, "Our strategy would be to do that through the launch of a new 100cc motorcycle in January. So far this year we have been defending our strong positions by launching the new 200cc Pulsar and a new 125cc Discover. It was important for us to first protect what we have. Now, we are going to enter into the 100cc space. Honda has done that a little before with the Yuga. We are going to have a new 100cc motorcycle in the market from January. We think it is the most advanced 100cc bike in the world. It will certainly be the most expensive in this market but, we think consumers are ready and willing to take it. In fact, they are aspiring to move up to something like that. In our case, we are hoping that this product is going to drive sales and market shares from January onwards." We will try to bring more news about that bike in future.

Bajaj is selling its bikes in Latin America and South East Asia, and in these markets Bajaj’s Pulsar series bikes has made a good following as well. Bajaj has already announced that they are going to export Pulsar 200NS to Latin America and South Asian countries.  It is expected that Kawasaki will take care of sales and service of Pulsar 200 NS in Indonesia.

BAJAJ PULSAR 200NS

BAJAJ PULSAR 200NS

The Pulsar 200 NS is the most advanced Pulsar in the Bajaj line up and its four valve, liquid cooled engine is the first of its kind. The Pulsar 200 NS is successful in domestic market due to its low pricing and if Bajaj sells the bike with such precision in Indonesian market, they will mark a milestone there aslo. Bajaj is planning to launch a 100cc bike in India and then a 375cc bike based on the Pulsar 200 NS platform. The new bike is expected to have a 373cc single cylinder engine, derived from Duke 390, with heavy designing cues from the same.

KTM DUKE 390 IS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN INDIA

The KTM’s Duke 390 is expected to arrive in India by March 2013 and the motorcycle will be its second bike in India after its successful model Duke 200. Now Bajaj Auto’s Chakan is manufacturing bikes for KTM locally. The main difference between Duke 390 and Duke 200 is its engine and engine mounting. But visually, it looks similar to KTM’s Duke 200 and the frame is exactly the same, from the 43 mm upside-down forks up front to the 150-section tyre at the back. The graphics of the bike are also almost similar to the Duke 200. The seat height is actually lower and the tank does hold half a litre of fuel more than the Duke 200. The chassis design of the bike is similar to Duke 125. KTM Duke 390 comes with ABS as standard in European version but it will come optional on Indian Duke 390. Bajaj will try to launch it at less price, if it happens the bike will perform well in Indian market.

KTM PLANNING TO LAUNCH TWO NEW BIKES

KTM has launched the Duke 390 in the UK recently, and it is soon going to see Indian streets as well. And now KTM's CEO Seftan Pierer announced that they are planning to introduce two new variants of their much hyped 390 Duke motorcycle in India. Speaking to a news agency Mr. Pierer said “KTM will debut a 'faired' model (KTM Moto3 350) and a 'travel / touring' model (KTM Enduro 350), which will be based on the KTM 390 Duke platform, and will share the bike’s 375cc single-cylinder engine.” He further added, “KTM will continue to rollout models every six months, with the faired sport bike and enduro model included in that plan.” The most surprising element of these announcements was that KTM is planning to develop a 180cc made for India bike. He stated that the Bajaj-KTM alliance is doing fabulous and they will keep doing wonders in future as well.

KTM Enduro 350

As Mr. Pierer said that they will launch a new motorcycle every six months, we can expect Duke 390's faired version and touring versions to follow the launch of the bike in early, 2013. As far as the pricing is concerned, Duke 390 is expected around Rs. 2 lakh, but the faired and touring version of the bike will be expensive. The faired version of the bike will target the enthusiasts, who love stylish plus performance motorcycles. While the touring version of the KTM Duke 390 will offer all the qualities that one looks in a ideal touring bike, like a higher tank capacity and front fairing to deflect the breeze blast at higher speeds. KTM Duke 390 produces 44bhp of peak power and 35Nm of peak torque and weighs only 150 kilogram, which profits an amazing energy to weight rate and allows the bike to hug 160kmph redline without much attempt.

TVS-BMW COLLABORATION IN TWO-WHEELERS

Indian bikemaker TVS Motor Co has announced that the BMW Motorrad-TVS collaboration in two-wheelers is in final stages, and they will form a JV before the ongoing fiscal. HS Goindi, TVS Motor Co President announcement, "Talks are on and we expect something to materialise before the end of the ongoing fiscal." He declined to comment on the nature and details of the partnership for which the company is in talks with BMW bike, which has also started selling high-end performance bikes in India since 2010.

However, the words on street suggest that the development is more as technology collaboration, so TVS bid to step up portfolio in the high-end performance bikes segment. Earlier in 2001, TVS Motor had parted ways with Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp from their erstwhile joint venture and since then the Chennai-based firm has been on a solo journey. Goindi was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the company's latest model, executive segment 125 cc bike, TVS Phoenix 125 which is priced at Rs 49,990 for drum brake version and Rs 52,000 for the disc brake variant.

TVS Phoenix 125

TVS Motor Co currently sells a range of motorcycles, starting from entry level TVS Sport in the 100 cc segment to the 180 cc model TVS Apache. Commenting on the company's expectations from the newly launched Phoenix, Goindi said: "The overall executive motorcycle segment is about 4 lakh units a month in India now and we want to have a share of about 5-7 per cent." Overall, the company is aiming to sell around 20,000 units of the Phoenix 125, he added.

The company will also start exporting the new model from February next year, Goindi said. "We had a gap in the segment, which is the fastest growing in the market and this will now be filled by the Phoenix," TVS Motor Co General Manager Marketing Arun Siddharth said. TVS is targetting urban customers with its new model, which it claims to deliver a mileage of 67 kmpl. The new motorcycle would compete with Hero MotoCorp’s Glamour, Bajaj Auto’s Discover and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s Shine.

HYOSUNG GV250 AND GV650 TO BE LAUNCHED IN INDIA BY 2013

DSK MotoWheels-Hyosung is planning to expand its portfolio in India. In last few years, Indian market has become a suitable place for premium cruiser and therefore the upcoming bikes will be cruisers; Hyosung GV250 and GV650. The prices haven't been announced yet, but these two will be positioned under the current flagship Hyosung ST7 cruiser in terms of price and positioning.

Hyosung GV250

Hyosung GV250

Hyosung GV250

The Hyosung GV250 and GV650 will come as Completely Knocked Down units and will be assembled in India, at Hyosung's centre of art at Wai, Maharashtra. The Hyosung GV650 will see a launch in January 2013, following by the GV250, which will be launched a little later, in March 2013. Apart from these bike DSK-Hyosung is also planning to launch a 2013 version of Hyosung GT650R sportsbike in India. Hyosung hasn't have a brand name like Harley Davidson for sure, therefore they have to develop a brand name first. That will be a tough task for them, Harley is their only competitor as well as HD is the only brand, which has a wide line up of CKD assembled cruisers in the country. Honda and Suzuki do offer a couple of cruisers, but they are being imported in the country. And using CKD assembly will be a beneficiary step for Hyosung, as it is the only way through which premium motorcycles can be priced affordable.

Hyosung GV650

Hyosung GV650

Hyosung GV650

Hyosung GV650

The Hyosung GV650 features a 650cc liquid cooled V-Twin engine running a DOHC/4 Valve layout. This engine delivers the peak power of about 70bhp with the peak torque of 60Nm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, which transfer the power to the rear wheel through a belt drive. We are expecting a price tag somewhere around Rs. 5 lakhs, making it the one of the most affordable premium cruisers to be sold in India. On the other hand, GV250 known as the Aquila internationally, will feature a 250cc V-Twin, oil cooled engine, capable to produces the peak power output of 25bhp with the peak torque of 24Nm. The engine comes with a conventional chain drive, powering the rear wheel of the motorcycle through a five speed manual gearbox The Hyosung GV250 is expected to come at Rs. 3 lakh.

APRILIA RS4 125

The livery and eye-catching form of the Aprilia RS4 125 echo the looks of the Factory version of the Aprilia RSV4 supersports bike. And the RS4 shares more than just a family resemblance with the most hardcore street version the bike dominating the world SBK championship. The design of the fairings and tank, the unique looks of the front end, with the headlights suspended over the gaping air intakes, and the spectacular tapered tail fairing are identical to their counterparts on V4 1000 cc supersports model that set new standards in terms of style and technical content for the superbike segment.

LEARN TO CHANGE THE MOTORCYCLE TYRE

Let the air inside the tyre to escape using the valve core tool. This tool is either snapped on or screwed into the valve to keep it open. The force of the air coming out is usually quite strong so you will need to hold the valve core tool tightly. Draw an arrow at the edge of the rim with your pencil so you can see the direction of the spin of the wheel. Detach the bead (the inner edge of the tyre) from the rim using the bead breaker tool. You will hear a pop sound when the bead breaks loose. Continue to separate the tyre from all edges of the rim on both sides. Use multiple tyre irons when removing motorcycle tyres. This will allow you to pull off the tyre with less effort since the stress will be distributed. Spray silicone lubricant on the tyre bead. This will allow you to slip the tyre off the rim easily by entering tyre irons under the bead and pulling the tyre away from the rim. Remove both sides of the tyre until the tyre can slip off completely.

Lubricate the inner walls of the tyre thoroughly. Place the new motorbike tyre so its spin direction matches the direction you marked earlier on the rim. Attach the tyre to the rim using the tyre irons. This time the tyre wall will be placed between the tyre iron and the rim so the tyre iron can push the tyre into the rim. Pump some air into the tyre using a compressed air pump but do not inflate it fully. Seal the tyre bead into the rim using the Breezer tyre tool. You can use this tool to press the bead in and then rotate the tyre to get the bead in from all edges. The Breezer tool can get stuck if one side of the tyre gets too tight. Change sides to make the job easier. Inflate your new tyre to the recommended pressure.
